Here's A Crazy Question

Here's a crazy question: Was the federal "government" involved in some way in Glenn Beck's departure from FOX News ?

Now, don't get me wrong, I know how that sounds. I see your eyes rolling. Yes, my official Glenn Beck tinfoil hat is too tight, I'm a conspiracy theorist, blah, blah, blah, yadda, yadda, yadda. Nonetheless, I want you to really think about it. After all, we live in times that don't allow us to sit back and say: "Nah, that couldn't be true". We live in times that force us to say "Well, I hope that's not true".

Whether you're a fan or not, you have to admit that the federal "government" has never had a critic like Glenn Beck. He was different in the fact that he wasn't just attacking one party. Beck is not your typical "call the the left socialists, make a lame joke, take the next call" kind of guy. (In other words, he's not Todd Schnitt.) Beck always backs up his statements with facts that were easily researched if one desired. To Beck, saying something isn't enough. You had to go the extra mile and prove it, consequences be damned. This attitude may have made Beck a star, but it also made him a crap load of enemies. You can't just scream that 2+2=4 when the government says that 2+2=5. Just ask Cass Sunstein.

The most dangerous socialist nutjob in the Obama administration is UNELECTED Regulatory Czar Cass Sunstein. Cass' job is to make regulations. In other words, Cass makes rules that have the same power over us proles that have the same weight as laws. If that isn't creepy enough, Cass doesn't believe in Free Speech. Cass had this to say about "conspiracy theories" and what should be done about them:

"Cass Sunstein has long been one of Barack Obama's closest confidants. Often mentioned as a likely Obama nominee to the Supreme Court, Sunstein is currently Obama's head of the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs where, among other things, he is responsible for 'overseeing policies relating to privacy, information quality, and statistical programs.' In 2008, while at Harvard Law School Sunstein co-wrote a truly pernicious paper proposing that the U.S. Government employ teams of covert agents and pseudo-"independent" advocates to "cognitively infiltrate" online groups and websites -- as well as other activist groups -- which advocate views that Sunstein deems "false conspiracy theories" about the Government. This would be designed to increase citizens' faith in government officials and undermine the credibility of conspiracists." --- Glenn Greenwald, salon.com

Here's the abstract from the above cited "academic" paper:

"Many millions of people hold conspiracy theories; they believe that powerful people have worked together in order to withhold the truth about some important practice or some terrible event. A recent example is the belief, widespread in some parts of the world, that the attacks of 9/11 were carried out not by Al Qaeda, but by Israel or the United States. Those who subscribe to conspiracy theories may create serious risks, including risks of violence, and the existence of such theories raises significant challenges for policy and law. The first challenge is to understand the mechanisms by which conspiracy theories prosper; the second challenge is to understand how such theories might be undermined. Such theories typically spread as a result of identifiable cognitive blunders, operating in conjunction with informational and reputational influences. A distinctive feature of conspiracy theories is their self-sealing quality. Conspiracy theorists are not likely to be persuaded by an attempt to dispel their theories; they may even characterize that very attempt as further proof of the conspiracy. Because those who hold conspiracy theories typically suffer from a crippled epistemology, in accordance with which it is rational to hold such theories, the best response consists in cognitive infiltration of extremist groups. Various policy dilemmas, such as the question whether it is better for government to rebut conspiracy theories or to ignore them, are explored in this light."---Cass Sunstein and co author Adrian Vermeule

Now, call me crazy and off my meds, but would this be a man who would have stood for Beck's withering critique of Chairman Obama and his Hopey-Changey socialist governing style ? Nope. In addition, Herr Sunstein is in bed with the George $oros crowd. From super sleuth Aaron Klein at WorldNetDaily:

"At least three White House advisers and officials, including President Obama's regulatory czar, Cass Sunstein, have ties to an effort funded by billionaire George Soros to push for a new, "progressive" U.S. Constitution.

WND first reported last week that Sunstein's wife, Samantha Power, has been a champion of a Soros-funded doctrine, entitled "responsibility to protect," which was used by Obama to justify engaging in an international military alliance to bomb Libya. As the National Security Council special adviser to Obama on human rights, Power reportedly influenced Obama in his decision.

Now it has emerged that Sunstein has maintained extensive ties to Soros' funding, particularly with regard to a movement that openly seeks to create a 'progressive' consensus as to what the U.S. Constitution should provide for by the year 2020.

Also, Attorney General Eric Holder sat on the board of a Soros-funded group pushing the same 'progressive' constitution'. "

When a guy has skeletons in his closet like Ol' Cass has, you kind of want to keep things low key. The last thing he needs is someone like Glenn Beck analyzing his every move on a chalk board every night. Is it so unreasonable to believe that Herr Sunstein "leaned" on Roger Ailes, Head Honcho at FOX News, to get rid of Beck with some help from Pharoah $oros ? Remember, these are people who want to destroy the United States and change its Constitution. That's a project that requires absolute secrecy and silence, especially when you don't want angry proles chasing you with pitchforks and torches. This is what $oros and Cass want the Constitution to look like:

"In my dialogue with Bruce Ackerman, I will be arguing for the importance of focussing quite narrowly on the Constitution in 2020 -- the founding document as it is interpreted in courts. I will be urging that it is important to resist, on democratic grounds, the idea that the document should be interpreted to reflect the view of the extreme right-wing of the Republican Party. This idea, sometimes masquerading under the name of originalism or strict construction, represents a form of judicial hubris; it is bad history and bad law. It should be exposed and rejected as such." ---Cass Sunstein in 2005

In other words: Cass wants to have a living, breathing Constitution that would give the Big Mommy Regime in DC unlimited power. He doesn't care what the Founders said, he only cares about what they should have said, in his own fascist opinion.

Now, I'm not going to pretend that I'm the one outing Cass Sunstein. Actually, Glenn Beck already did, many times on his FOX News show. However, this is some gold from Beck:

"The office of information and regulatory affairs, Cass Sunstein who I maintain is the most dangerous man in America because you never see this guy coming. According to Red State, Cass Sunstein had championed creating fake websites and using outside 501(c)(3) interest groups to act as alleged independent champions of government policy and to, quote, cognitively infiltrate, end quote, opposition websites." ---Glenn Beck

"Fake websites" ? "Interest groups" ? Hmmm.....what could Glenn be blithering about ?

"Paid for by MoveOn.org Political Action, http://pol.moveon.org/. Not authorized by any candidate or candidate's committee. MoveOn.org Civic Action is a 501(c)(4) organization which primarily focuses on nonpartisan education and advocacy on important national issues. MoveOn.org Political Action is a federal political committee which primarily helps members elect candidates who reflect our values through a variety of activities aimed at influencing the outcome of the next election. MoveOn.org Political Action and MoveOn.org Civic Action are separate organizations."

Oh, look! It's Moveon.Dork! They hate Glenn Beck! Oh, yes they're Emperor Palpat---I mean Herr $oros' henchmen! So, how's that protest rally about Obama's ILLEGAL WAR in Libya coming along, Moveon ? You know, that little skirmish Obama got the US involved in without Congressional approval....Oh wait, you haven't had time ? Oh, I get it, you're too busy cheering the end of the Glenn Beck show. How silly of me!

"Media Matters for America is a Web-based, not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) progressive research and information center dedicated to comprehensively monitoring, analyzing, and correcting conservative misinformation in the U.S. media.

Launched in May 2004, Media Matters for America put in place, for the first time, the means to systematically monitor a cross section of print, broadcast, cable, radio, and Internet media outlets for conservative misinformation — news or commentary that is not accurate, reliable, or credible and that forwards the conservative agenda — every day, in real time.

Using the website mediamatters.org as the principal vehicle for disseminating research and information, Media Matters posts rapid-response items as well as longer research and analytic reports documenting conservative misinformation throughout the media. Additionally, Media Matters works daily to notify activists, journalists, pundits, and the general public about instances of misinformation, providing them with the resources to rebut false claims and to take direct action against offending media institutions."

Hmmmm.... "Direct action", you say ? Like what, Media Matters ? You mean like this, from your "Drop FOX campaign" ?

"Tides Foundation CEO Drummond Pike's full letter to Fox News advertisers:

Dear Fox Advertiser,

I am writing to ask your company to take a simple step that may well save lives in the future. And it is not unimportant that taking this action will remove your company and its products from any connection to what could very likely be an unpleasant tragedy, should things remain as they are today. On behalf of my organization, and many others like it, I ask that you cease advertising on the Fox News Channel.

This is neither a hollow request, nor one rhetorically made. There is an urgency to it born of our own direct experience as the target of a would-be assassin inspired by Fox's Glenn Beck Show.

On July 19th of this year, I arrived at our San Francisco office to learn that a misguided person carrying numerous guns and body armor had been on his way to start a "revolution" by murdering my colleagues and me. The Oakland Police Department called to tell us that, following a 12 minute shootout with the California Highway Patrol, law enforcement officials arrested an assailant who had targeted the Tides Foundation, an organization which I founded and currently serve as CEO, and the ACLU for violence. To say we were "shocked" does not adequately describe our reaction. Imagine, for a moment, that you were us and, had it not been for a sharp eyed highway patrolman, a heavily armed man in full body armor would have made it to your office with the intent to kill you and your colleagues. His motive? Apparently, it was because the charitable, nonpartisan programs we run are deemed part of a conspiracy to undermine America and the capitalist system, which is hogwash.

Although not a political organization, the Tides Foundation has been a frequent target of misinformation, propaganda, and outright lies by Fox News' Glenn Beck. Since his arrival at Fox in early 2009, Beck has repeatedly vilified Tides, suggesting we are intent on 'creat[ing] a mass organization to seize power.' He accuses the foundation of indoctrination and says we are 'involved in some of the nastiest of the nasty.' Beck tells viewers that Tides has 'funneled' money to 'some of the most extreme groups on the left' and that our mission is to 'warp your children's brains and make sure they know how evil capitalism is.' In total, prior to the attempted rampage, Beck had attacked the Tides Foundation 29 times. On September 28th, more than a month after the shooting, Beck reiterated his focus on the Tides Foundation, warning, 'I'm coming for you.' In jailhouse interviews, the gunman confessed he views Beck as a 'schoolteacher' who 'blew my mind.' My would-be killer admitted that Beck 'give[s] you every ounce of evidence you could possibly need' to commit violence.

Beck is a self-described 'Progressive Hunter' who relies on violent rhetoric. Do you really think that the millions of Americans who describe themselves as "progressive" need to be 'hunted down'? If so, to what end?

For hours every day on radio and television, Beck pits American against American, telling his audience that our country is under attack by a demonic Nazi-like regime seeking to destroy all that is great about America while insisting it's up to his viewers to resist and revolt. He warned his audience that 'these are the most dangerous two years of our republic. Because in the end, in revolutions, the real dangerous killers show up.' Beck even compared our government to vampires while instructing his viewers to 'drive a stake through the heart of the bloodsuckers' and pretended to poison Speaker Pelosi on television. A few months later, Gregory Giusti was was arrested for repeatedly threatening House Speaker Nancy Pelosi -- including threatening to destroy her home -- because he was upset over health care reform. The man's mother told a local news station he listens to those with 'really radical ideas,' adding, 'I'd say Fox News or all of those that are really radical.'

When I started the Tides organizations 35 years ago, I did so in the very American belief that ordinary citizens had a role to play in our democratic process. It was, I thought, the responsibility of everyone to become engaged in our civic life, and for years we've worked with thousands of Americans to do just that. And, while we support progressive values and goals, we respect the rights and voices of those with whom we disagree on issues. Never in our history have we tolerated employees or grantees that support those who would do harm to others. By supporting Fox News Channel, you and your company are risking your reputation and good standing because they are doing just this.

As you may know, a coordinated advertiser boycott by Media Matters and Color of Change, an online civil rights group, has caused Glenn Beck's Fox News show to lose over 100 sponsors. Despite the campaign's success, Fox insists it has had no impact on the channel's profitability because the overall demand for advertisements on Fox has remained stable. Companies are still paying to advertise on Fox News, but their ads are simply moved to a different time of day. Thus, businesses that pay to broadcast commercials on Fox News are subsidizing Glenn Beck's television show by continuing to pump money into the network. It has become clear that the only way to stop supporting Beck is to stop supporting Fox News.

I respectfully request that you bring this matter of your company's sponsorship of hate speech leading to violence to the attention of your fellow directors as soon as possible. I believe no responsible company should advertise on Fox News due to its recent and on-going deplorable conduct.

While we may agree to disagree about the role our citizens and our government should play in promoting social justice and the common good, there should be no disagreement about what constitutes integrity and professionalism and responsibility in discourse - even when allowing for and encouraging contending diverse opinions intelligently argued. This is not a partisan issue. It's an American issue. No one, left, right or center, wants to see another Oklahoma City.

The next 'assassin' may succeed, and if so, there will be blood on many hands. The choice is yours. Please join my call to do the right thing in this regard and put Fox News at arm's length from your company by halting your advertising with them.

Drummond Pike

CEO and Founder, Tides"

What about you, Colorofchange.org ? What's your deal ? Aren't you funded by Sugar Daddy $oros, too ?

"ColorOfChange.org exists to strengthen Black America's political voice. Our goal is to empower our members - Black Americans and our allies - to make government more responsive to the concerns of Black Americans and to bring about positive political and social change for everyone.

We were heart-broken and outraged by the catastrophe that followed Hurricane Katrina. And we were devastated to realize that no African-American organization or coalition had the capacity to respond on the necessary scale.

Hurricane Katrina made it clear that our lack of a political voice has life-and-death consequences. With no one to speak for them, hundreds of thousands of people - largely Black, poor, and elderly - were left behind to die. But it wasn't just Black folks. Poor, sick, and elderly people of every color were abandoned too. We are not alone, and when we work to protect Black lives and interests, we do the same for all who have been left behind in political silence.

ColorOfChange.org is comprised of Black folks from every economic class, as well as those of every color who seek to help our voices be heard. Our members are united behind a simple, powerful pledge: we will do all we can to make sure all Americans are represented, served, and protected - regardless of race or class.

What We Do

Using the Internet, we enable our members to speak in unison, with an amplified political voice. We keep them informed about the most pressing issues for Black people in America and give them ways to act. We lobby elected representatives using email, the telephone, and face-to-face meetings.

We bring attention to the needs and concerns of Black folks by holding coordinated events in different parts of the country, running TV and print advertisements, and demanding that the news media cover our issues. We also work with other groups - online efforts and other organizations that are doing related work - to magnify our impact.

When we come together and speak with one voice, we cannot be ignored."

Well, isn't that remarkable! So, exactly how do you go about strengthening "Black America's political voice" ?

"During a Fox News appearance, Glenn Beck called President Obama "a racist" who has a "deep-seated hatred for white people." Beck is on a campaign to convince the American public that President Obama's agenda is about serving the needs of Black communities at White people's expense. It's repulsive, divisive and shouldn't be on the air. Join us in calling on Beck's advertisers to stop sponsoring his show.

Join us in calling on Beck's advertisers to stop sponsoring his show.

UPDATE: More than 285,000 people have asked advertisers to distance themselves from his program. Since July 2009, nearly 300 advertisers have abandoned his Fox News show. Advertisers continue to stay away. The ColorOfChange community achieves a public rebuke on a scale rarely seen and helps push Beck’s voice further to the margins of public discourse, where it belongs.

UPDATE: Glenn Beck’s daily show will drop from the Fox News lineup. ColorOfChange Executive Director James Rucker responds here and here."

How did James Rucker respond ? Let's see:

"Fox News has announced that Glenn Beck’s TV show will end later this year. This is great news, and it wouldn’t have happened without the efforts of ColorOfChange.org members. Since our campaign began in 2009, more than 285,000 of us demanded that Beck’s advertisers stop supporting his show, and they listened — roughly 300 companies abandoned his show. And we’ve made sure that major advertisers have stayed away from Beck — since the end of 2009, Beck’s only advertisers have been companies selling things like gold coins and exercise machines.

Beck’s lack of advertisers made him a financial liability for Fox, and it’s clear that this was a driving factor in his departure from Fox. This is an incredible and unprecedented victory.

Before this announcement from Fox, we already considered this campaign a huge success. Back in August 2009, when we had pushed about a dozen advertisers off of Beck’s show, the New York Times called our campaign “unusually successful.” After all major advertisers left Beck’s show in response to our campaign, it became extremely clear that the way Beck stokes fear and division is not acceptable in the mainstream. The media coverage of our campaign helped expose Beck for what he is — someone who twists the truth, stokes racial fear and tension for political and personal gain.

We always knew that we could reduce Beck’s influence and push him to the margins of political discourse — where he belongs.

Everyone who took part in this effort should feel proud. It’s because of us — everyday people taking a stand and demanding accountability — that Glenn Beck’s race-baiting and fear-mongering will no longer have a platform on a major TV network. We also want to thank our partners at MoveOn, CREDO Action, Media Matters, and StopBeck for all their hard work and support in this campaign. This victory is theirs too.

Our statement about Beck’s departure from Fox is here."

OAKLAND, Calif. – The following is a statement from James Rucker, executive director of ColorOfChange.org, in response to Glenn Beck’s departure from the Fox News Channel:

“ColorOfChange strongly applauds Glenn Beck’s departure from the Fox News Channel. More than 285,000 ColorOfChange members have participated in our campaign against him since it began in July 2009. Because of them, Beck’s show lost more than 300 advertisers – companies that were unwilling to attach their products and brands to his vitriolic and divisive commentary. Fox News Channel clearly understands that Beck’s increasingly erratic behavior is a liability to their ratings and their bottom line, and we are glad to see them take this action.”

With more than 750,000 members, ColorOfChange.org is the nation’s largest African-American online political organization.

We certainly can't forget everyone's least favorite kapos at the Jewish Funds For Justice, can we ? After all, they're the Pseudo-Jews who got 400 "rabbis" to sign a petition demanding that Beck be punished for daring to out their Nazi-collaborating benefactor, George $oros. What do they have to say about Beck's ousting at FOX ?

"Simon Greer, president of Jewish Funds for Justice, released the following statement after Fox News Network announced today that it is terminating Glenn Beck’s daily television show later this year:

'Fox News is dumping Glenn Beck because he has been rejected by Jews, by Christians and people of conscience from across the political spectrum. We applaud Rupert Murdoch and Roger Ailes for taking responsibility for Beck’s destructive impact and for finally ridding themselves of his hate speech.

'For over a year, JFSJ has stood up to Beck’s conspiracy theories, which often involve personal attacks on Jews and on faiths that pursue social justice. In November, 10,000 people joined our call for Fox News to cancel Beck’s program, and many other Jewish leaders, including the editors at Commentary magazine, Prof. Deborah Lipstadt, Rabbi Eric Yoffie and rabbinical leaders of the major denominations have spoken out strongly against Beck’s rhetoric. Today, we feel like our voices have been heard.”

Jewish Funds for Justice has spearheaded the campaign to get Glenn Beck off of the air. Last fall, JFSJ delivered more than 10,000 petitions to Fox News headquarters, urging the company to 'Fire Beck.' In January, JFSJ organized more than 400 rabbis, including leaders of every denomination, to issue an open letter to Rupert Murdoch asking him to sanction Beck for the misuse of the Holocaust and Nazis to demonize political opponents. JFSJ was also instrumental in organizing the Jewish community to demand an apology from Beck after he compared Reform Judaism to radical Islam in February.

JFSJ continues to stand up to Beck’s destructive impact on the radio. The organization is working with Christian clergy to call upon Salem Communications not to air Beck’s nationally syndicated radio show in New York City and drop him from their stations in Chicago, Los Angeles, and Washington, DC.

Jewish Funds for Justice (JFSJ), a national public foundation guided by Jewish history and tradition, is standing up to Glenn Beck as part of 'Solutions not Scapegoats,' its campaign to counter fear-mongering and destructive political rhetoric."

Gee, what does destroying Glenn Beck have to do with Judaism or creating a "just, fair, and compassionate America" as the website's header reads ? I'm at a loss.

See, folks, the bottom line is this: Glenn Beck wasn't removed from the FOX lineup because of his ratings, unlike Keith Olbermann. He wasn't canned for making racist remarks like Rick Sanchez. He was destroyed by the powers that be. He was destroyed by the "government" and its $oros funded puppeteers. Whether you love Beck or you think he's a lunatic, you should be offended as an American that a tiny, faceless group is deciding for YOU what you should be allowed to watch and who you should be allowed to listen to. Is this the American way ?

God help us all.

This is important work. You brought up very important and salient points here. I was half way through a blog I was writing and was missing a key point. You brought it home and tied it all together! I will reference your work. Thanks!

Was the White House involved with Beck getting thrown out of his job?

Ah, probably not. His pathetic ratings and the fact that no reputable company wanted to be associated with him were the real reasons.

But, the bottom line is, we sane Americans who despise Glenn Beck, just KICKED HIS ASS!!!

And I'm glad it has you so upset. Ha ha!
